Not every rom out there is working on the emulators. For mame4all please check this list https://code.google.com/p/imame4all/wiki/GameList if the game isn't listed it won't work on mame4all.

Unable to play NES games
well, changing the file name won't effect the name you get inside the emulators. I want to change the game names because sometimes they are not what I want

Feature Requests: What do you want to see in PiPlay?
Maybe with the rom scraper get information about the game? Like title, description, release year... And display this info together with the image in the game list.

Is there an easy way to edit names of roms? I have seen a program before but that would take quite a lot of work to change it.

@danielsondownunder hit escape so you go to the command line. then type "startx" that should start up the desktop. (I always need to escape another time because startx always brings piplay back)

For your first problem, I don't think you need to edit the settings, I think you just need to get a cable or plug that converts RCA to scart. (one like this http://brain-images.cdn.dixons.com/4/1/07059814/l_07059814.jpg) I could be wrong here. …

compatibility with new Rpi B+?
I don't think this should be a problem at all. Only hardware changes on the new model. Only problem thing that could mess up is that audio jack that is also used for the component video.

Can't play any ROMs; only goes to Raspbian Desktop
@koinuchan - You should always format your SD card before using it. Use this tool https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ But I don't think this is the cause of your problems. (if you card was empty)
