Remove escape to console
For the controller part, commenting out pygame.quit() and sys.exit() didn't work. I had to remove everything from the if statement down. It works, but not sure if that messes anything up! Hopefully not. Remapped my quit button to Q on my keybo…

Remove escape to console
Perfect! That is exactly what I need. Last thing: The B button on my controller will also exit the main menu. I want to make sure that doesn't happen. Thanks for all your help!

Remove escape to console
@lateo Pretty sure it doesn't. Plus, I want this thing to be usable by other people, which is why I am trying to avoid hitting the console if I can. So far I have a big red button on the top of the pi case that returns to the game list using ES…

Remove escape to console
Two things. 1) How would I reach the console after that? Can I indicate a different key? 2) Does this also keep the gamepad from exiting the main menu? When you hit B? Thanks mholgatem!

Save game states?
Anyone have a suggestion for this problem? I know the emulator says that save states are not officially supported on this ROM, but the same ROM on my computer and phone handles save states?

ERROR no Xbox or Xbox 360 controller found
Does the keyboard work? Xboxdrv is just telling you that it didn't find any controllers. If you have none plugged in then you are fine! If the keyboard doesn't work then that's another problem! :)

Hit ESC on the PiPlay menu to get to the console. Type: sudo nano /etc/rc.local Add the following line between "fi" and "exit 0" xboxdrv --dpad-only & Hit ctrl + x, enter, then exit to return to the PiPlay menu. This will …

The emulators should work straight from the image you downloaded. Are you getting any other messages on your screen when you try to run one of your ROMs? Which emulators are you trying to use?

PiPlay unable to detect ROMs in subfolders and input mapping
Hi nex86 and welcome! It is preconfigured for Xbox controllers, but your usb Snes controller should work just fine! Each emulator will have it's own menu for mapping buttons. Try pressing TAB on the keyboard to bring up the separate menus. The…

Dell 1503fp Monitor, odd behavior
I'll try those suggestions. The reason it did that with the TV was because I had it set for the monitor. With everything commented out my TV works fine. We'll see what happens!

[Help] Noobie questions & problems with joystick
Can you give us more information? What kind of joystick is it? Does the joystick work in the menus, then quit when you launch a game? Or does it not work at all?

For kicks I plugged it into my TV and got the same reaction using the settings for the monitor. Splash screen plays and then it all goes blank. Anyone got any ideas?

I tried all of those. I used group 2 and mode 16 since Dells website listed 1024x768 as the standard resolution. It would look better on the startup, but still went blank after the Piplay splash screen. Also tried hotplug and safe mode, with no re…

Map XBOX controller buttons to Keyboard?
The momentary button would solve the ESC issue, but still wouldn't allow me to remap the keys for emulators that don't allow remapping.

Oh nice! The sound was a little funky. I was getting a bit of slowdown too, not sure what that was about. Guess I'll just wait.

NES Legal notice: How do you remove it?
No, it's not that hard. BUT when I am working on it without a controller, for some reason typing OK doesn't work. I guess it's not recognizing my keyboard. Regardless... Why put up with it at all if there is a quick way to fix it? I …

Escaping games using a controller
@hinchhinch sorry I should have been more clear. I meant to say controller. I just want to map 1 button on the controller to the keyboard key "ESC." That way I have a system wide way of escaping any of the emulators from the controller. I …

Well it wasn't the fixed issue with NES. For whatever reason, I redownloaded all the ROMs I had, and unzipped them into the NES folder. Then reran the scraper, and VOILA! Who knows... Anyways, still wondering about the above 2 questions.

Figured it out. I guess the pimame-menu folder I downloaded from mholgatem had a fix for the old NES issue of not reading roms in zip folders. Fixed the path in config.yaml and added a zipped rom just to see. Boom, loaded right up! Thanks you guys …

@hinchhinch Thanks! I mostly use the Nintendo emulators though. Is there a way to map a button on the joystick to the "esc" key?

N64 games.
So is this a limitation based on the emulator or the RPi? I would think if it can run a PSX game it can run a N64 game? Though that's probably just my naivety talking.
