Well, for advMAME anyway, the config can differentiate between keyboards ( example -player_1_up [keyboard0, up] ). so you could go through your advmame.cfg file and and just duplicate all of your keyboard0 entries to include keyboard1 as well.

hmmm.... maybe try unplugging your physical keyboard, run the controller setup, then test a game.

it's been a while since I've fiddled with the controller setup, but it might be a limitation of pygame (the underlying library that PiPlay runs on). I know that pygame handles those particular keys as modifiers, so that might be the case. …

Which emulator are you using? If you are using mame4all, it has to be configured in game as it doesn't have an accessible config file for piplay to write to.

Display by release date not working.
just follow the above directions and that should fix it. somewhere in the database there must be some un-parsable date entry. I have added a fix that will bypass it in the next update.

hmm... startx should work. That's how I get into it. maybe try: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade restart, then run startx

I actually have no idea when that next update will be out. Development has slowed in the last couple of months as we have been taking on several different projects. But I think that we are about ready to start it chugging along again.

PiPlay still active?
I'm getting ready to revamp the controller config so that you can configure controls on a per-button-basis, rather than needing to run through an entire emulators set of controls.
