having trouble getting the L-Ctrl, L-Alt and L-Shift buttons to work
  • I am having trouble getting the L-Ctrl, L-Alt and L-Shift buttons to work. I am using an IPAC (from Ultimarc.com) and I have wired up a joystick, 6 buttons, a coin button, a player start button and button A and B for each player. I installed PIPlay 0.8 Beta 9 and booted the Raspberry Pi. Then loaded a ROM (1942) and tried playing the game but I could not fire. I went to the main menu and ran the controller setup and went through each button/Joystick but when I got to the L-Ctrl (sw-1), l-Alt (sw-2) or L-Shift (sw-4) it would not recognize the button push. If I connect my IPAC to a windows machine it works fine so I don't think it is an issue with the way the buttons and joysticks are wired to the IPAC. I work a lot with windows but am new to Linux and Raspberry Pi. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  • it's been a while since I've fiddled with the controller setup, but it might be a limitation of pygame (the underlying library that PiPlay runs on). I know that pygame handles those particular keys as modifiers, so that might be the case. You can try either manually editing the config files, or try changing you keys to something else.
  • Just FYI - When I get some spare time, my main priority is to overhaul the controller config.
