n00b question - why are some emulators not active?
  • I decided to dust off my RPI and try to use it as a MAME box for a summer project with my son.

I just downloaded the latest build - 0.8.0 b3 - and installed it.

when I boot it, only some emulators are active in the menu. For example, Mame4All and AdvMAME are both greyed out.

I ssh into the pi and check config.yml - it is correctly pointing to M4A, M4A is installed, and I can manually launch M4A. So why does it appear greyed out in the menu?
  • do you have all the bios files in the right folders? if not, you should put them in and try again, it may be the problem.
  • it's because there aren't any game files uploaded. Upload a game or two and it becomes active.
