Keyboard/USB controller remapping
Solved by using jtest (found out that LR=3, UD=) and then edited the snes9x.cfg file. I'm having the same problem with pcsx rearmed though.

PCSX_Rearmed control mapping
As for me, got my generic USB controller to work with pisnes by editing snes9x.cfg. With pcsx, all other buttons are recognized save for the direction pad.

Ok, i've mapped the joystick but i can't seem to map the direction pad.
