PiPlay in old TV cabinet
Hi, nice job. Why did you remove the cathodic screen ans replace it by a LCD? It was black and white...? take to much place? I did just the reverse... build a mini cab with a small 5" TV : http://www.morere.eu/spip.php?article178

Rotation
Rotating during runtime can only bee done using Xorg and the xrand program -> but it uses resources and the emulation will not be as quick as standard mode.

Cannot configure mame4all games via tab
No it does not replace retrogame. Evtest helps you to test your input hardware. All buttons does not respond or just some of them?

Have you check in a console that retrogame program is sending all the key. You can test it with evtest too. After that, you can try to configure key with a keyboard instead of your panel too see if it comes from retrogame ou your panel wiring.

Why on Earth is Avancemame even on Piplay?
I agree, Advmame is better, but until it will be optimized for pi, it is just not really usable... Who wants to play 1944 with slow sound and 20 fps!

that's strange... I trhink you should add LIBS=-lasound in Makefile like this LIBS = -lm -lpthread -lSDL -L$(SDKSTAGE)/opt/vc/lib -lbcm_host -lGLESv2 -lEGL -lglib-2.0 -lasound and try to recompile

Piplay 'Cabinet Edition'?
The v2 is still in rc. It is in the unstable git branch. It needs SDL2 libs which are not the default in raspbian. I already compiled it (+sdl of course) but not tested yet. I need time to do it. Perhaps in few weeks months.
