Some info here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=31966 If the PiMAME distro doesn't have it natively, you can add it via ADVMenu (generic emulator configuration).

[SOLVED] Read ROMs from USB Stick

A few more questions... I'm almost done. :)
1. Probably wrong rom set. Look for ones specifically for 0.106 2. You can't. Use Mame4All (uses older rom set, though). If still too slow, might have to go to a better computer.

Budget USB joysticks that work "out of the box" with PiMAME?
Before building my console, I used a Logitech Gamepad F310 (http://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/gamepad-f310?crid=713) You might need to remap a few buttons in MAME, though

Speed and Mame4All
Actually, Shea, having different rom paths might be best due to the mame version differences, although I'm sure some of them might be compatible with both. In worst case, users could symlink to the same folder if they wanted to try it.

I've been working with both. Here are my thoughts/findings, mostly specific to MAME support. PiMame uses ADVMAME which is based on v0.106 code. PiMAME is based on 0.375b. ADVMAME naturally has the benefit of supporting more (and newer) rom…

The monitor should have a VESA mount so you could secure it to a cross brace (likely with M4 screws and washers. Be sure to keep the mounting depth in consideration though (don't want to puncture anything). Then just change the config.txt as r…

Re not seeing the console boot up messages, there is a way to make them less verbose by editing the /boot/config.txt and changing the terminal they are output to. But there will still be some. You cod put the monitor on some sort of delay though (to…

Off the top of my head, would that work with the second "advmame" there? I thought that specifies the type of emulator. Try specifying "generic" and then putting the full path to the clear command and the advmame executable. (…
