GPSP / Gameboy Advance Control Mapping
  • I'm trying to use a USB Super NES controller on the GPSP emulator for Gameboy Advance. I can not get it to map the controls -- I can enter the game configuration menu by hitting F10, and I can select the "configure gamepad input" option, but when I get to that option screen, there is nothing there, just a "Back" choice to return to the main menu.

I have seen some threads that indicate that GPSP only sees the "first" controller, which could be the Ultimarc iPac controller that is part of my bartop (the SNES controller plugs into a USB port in the back), but I've tried rebooting the Raspi with the Ultimarc unplugged as well, and still no difference. Have also tried running GPSP from within X. No difference.

I do see that some games generate a .cfg file, and there is a gpsp.cfg file, but if I open it with a text editor, it's blank.

    Any ideas??

  • OK, I fixed this by installing the binary files from the emulator's developer. They are located here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2x9tz60v06h15u9/gpsp.tar.gz

Just unzip the file, copy the unzipped files into your GPSP directory. Once I did that, I ran the GBA advance ROM file that I wanted, hit F10 on the keyboard, and configured the gamepad. Unlike previously, all of the keys were there / selectable / assignable, where before I only had one menu option - "back."

Howdy, Stranger!
