Has anyone stripped the unnecessary things from the Linux kernel for a dedicated MAME box? I'm thinking about making a set of several machines for my home 'arcade' with each one dedicated to a just a couple (or even just one) games with similar controls. Once built I really do not expect a need for networking, x, etc. and would like to eliminate them to speed up the boot process.

Also, will PiPlay work on the older RPi A (not +)? I couldn't find an answer to that in the forums.
