MAME4ALL will not install

I installed 0.8.0 Beta 7 and got piplay to load up. But for some reason mame4all will not install.
I expanded the filesystem using raspi-config, restarted and then installed MAME from the pimenu.
Right at the end of the installation it gets the error messages:
Cloning into 'mame4all-pi'...
Warning: you appear to have cloned an empty repository.
cp: cannot stat 'mame4all-pi/mame4all_pi.zip: no such file or directory
unzip: cannot find or open mame4all_pi.zip, mame4all_pi.zip.zip or mame4all_pi.zip.ZIP
why is the mame4all_pi.zip file not being created???? -
