Will a gamepad work with Cave Story?

I'm running 0.8.0 beta5. I have a SNES controller hooked through a USB interface into my Pi and it works for the PiPlay menu. It doesn't seem to work with Cave Story. Is the PiPlay Cave Story enabled for gamepad control? Or is it only keyboard control thus far? I've been into the Cave Story options with no luck and have performed sudo updates and upgrades with no luck. Anyone have any intel on using a gamepad with Cave Story?

I haven't tried it, but I imagine that you should be able to use a gamepad with it.

Mine works, no setup required (using x-arcade gamepad)
