Custom Table - Help required with accessing snes config file for remapping

    Hi all,

    New to Pimame/piplay andhave just installed it on my new custom build coffee table. I really need help with getting into the snes config file though. I have Xin-Mo usb controller and although its almost perfect on the Piplay front end I need to remap some of the controls in the snes emulator.
    So...

    1. How can I get into the snes config file to change the keymapping? I keep getting a wrong permission error and have tried everything!!

    2. Is it possible to edit the Piplay button inputs? I would like to lose the keyboard as I have installed buttons for back/escape.

    I have had a look through the forum but havent found a solution.

    You are a legend!!! I must have got the route to the snes9x.cfg file wrong when I tried the sudo nano command! Thank you. I dont suppose you know the command to change the Piplay keymapping?

    I have not integrated keymapping into the piplay menu yet. it's coming.

    could you make everything alright mattju? could u tell me how you did it? i could not make it work :(

    Isalcedo, I managed to get the config file up with the command line from mholgatem, but I`m still trying to figure out my button input values. Will post here once ive figured it out.

    alright. in my case it seems snes is ignoring my snes9x.cfg. i change the code but things still the same. good luck.

    With your issue are you pressing ctr x to save changes?

    yes, im saving :) im not that dumb
    you need to install jstest to get input values as the cfg file itself says:

    # Get codes from "jstest /dev/input/js0"
    # from package "joystick"

    im not sure if this is the command you can do a quick search. but here it this:

    sudo apt-get install joystick
    jstest /dev/input/js0

    Figured it out eventually :) cant understand why yours isnt saving???
