A build from someone who has absolutely no idea what they are doing
The goal of this project is to build an arcade cabinet that is; - No bigger than a foot tall (my foot anyway). - USB powered. - Street fighter arcade configuration (6 buttons). - Cabinet looks old school (Wood grain decal).
Due to my lack of knowledge and skill; - With the exclusion of the joystick, I am not soldering anything. - All components (cabinet, monitor, joystick controller, etc) are off the shelf products. - Everything is connected via USB.
fantastic. I'm interested in doing something, but I have some questions. You can only move through menus with the joystick? as you turn out the raspberry pi when you finish playing?
Octubrq, Actually i forgot to mention this on my to do list but ill be adding a on off switch, should be added at the end of the week. In regards to the menu, I have it auto booting to fb. Fb workd natively with the joystick
that looks pretty badass! As for wood grain decals, i work at a sign/vehicle graphics shop and ive seen something that might interest you. 3M makes some awesome vinyl films that not only mimic the look of wood grains but also the texture. if you can find a supplier it might be worth trying. here is a link for more details http://solutions.3mcanada.ca/wps/portal/3M/en_CA/architectural-markets/home/interior-exterior-finishes/
