Spontaneous blinking when I run Neogeo roms in FBA

Does anyone know how to fix this or why it happens? its really annoying the games boot up but during the games the screen goes black for like 1-2 seconds really interrupting gameplay. By the looks of it, it seems the game continues but the video is lost (im using HDMI)

ive noticed this happening as well on one of my hdmi monitors. the hdmi_boost setting in the /boot/config.txt may need to be raised.
