I did a fresh install of 0.8.0 B3 and copied my ROMS back over to the corresponding locations. When I attempt to open the games I'm often dropped to the terminal. It would seem the button configurations on my SNES USB controllers aren't setup correctly. I'm using a pair of Buffalo Classic SNES USB controllers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221191240127&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160
Other times I'll get dropped to terminal with an error message. $ ATION: Device not found
I've read the posts regarding modifying the .CFG files for each emulator. However, I'd rather have a solution that works out of the box. Would your recommend the XBox 360 controllers instead? Is there any tested solution that allows you to just have a pair of joysticks and no keyboard?
Is there a command to reload the GUI instead of rebooting? Thank you!
I have used a third party wired xbox controller, and it worked no problem. I honestly recomment just wiring buttons up to the gpio pins on the pi. I havent had any problems going that route.
Thanks for the comments. As far as wiring buttons, I'm wanting to give these out to "non-technical" family members. I'm not sure button wiring and solder would be something they can adequately maintain. Just curious if the development is going to consider "plug and play" for certain joysticks/game pads. Ideally not having to use a keyboard is my first goal though. I'll check out the wiring for mine though.
