DGen crashing or freezing on load

Anyone know any ideas on why dgen would crash on startup? I attempt to run any Genesis roms and all I get is a black screen and frozen Pi. I updated the OS yesterday to the most recent update, I haven't touched the Genesis part of the Config file for Pimame, and files are unzipped to individual .bin files. Anything I'm missing?

Weird! Has anyone else had this problem? Also what model pi are you using, how much RAM?

I resolved the problem by uncompressing the zipped ROMS, works like a charm -
You beat me to it. I was going to say zipped ROMs cause problems.
