Delete MAME Roms

I loaded some roms to AdvanceMAME that I want to remove.
I deleted the rom files from the command line but the names still show up in the emulator menu.
I renamed the local.db file thinking it would rebuild the list but it deleted all rom menus including other emulators.
Any suggestions on doing this correctly? -
I went into the database through the web page front end and deleted them. Also try scrapping, I believe it checks the directories and rebuilds the db.
