HAPP Joystick problems
  • I built a cabinet using these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Player-USB-Mame-Arcade-Kit-w-2-Joysticks-4-8-way-16-HAPP-Push-Buttons-60-in-1-/221281135290) and hooked it up using the included diagram to the USB controller but am running into some strange issues in piplay:

    - The joystick is reversed (up/down/left/right) even after I configure it on both controllers
    - The joystick is "jerky". When I move "left" the character jerks back and forth instead of moving like it is triggering on/off.

Not sure really where to start troubleshooting this thing. Any help would be appreciated.
  • ah, so the problems are probably coming from your xin-mo board. You will need to update your kernel. Check out this thead:

  • Thanks mholgatem, I was able to update the kernel but now the joystick doesn't seem to do anything in the emulator and none of the buttons works.

On the piplay emulator I can use the joystick but it is backwards. left <-> right are reversed and running the controller configuration doesn't do anything.

    In the emulator, nothing works.
  • When you run the controller config, it doesn't fix your problem with the emulators?

To reconfigure the controls for piplay, you need to edit this file: /home/pi/pimame/pimame-menu/controller.yaml

The file itself is pretty self explanatory, just make sure that you keep the spacing the same (before each entry). The yaml file format watches the spaces before each entry to group everything correctly.

Howdy, Stranger!
