How will PiPlay handle 16 bit games on the Raspberry 2? Specifically, for my favorite games Samurai shodown II and III, Money Puzzle Idol Exchanger, and Gigawing..... would there be any lag or issues? I am thinking about buying a Pi 2 specifcally for these games and wanted to try and find out ahead of time.
they should run great. While I haven't tested those ones specifically, I know that a lot of the 16 bit systems run great. Super Ninendo and Genesis. I believe that the samurai showdown and gigawing are both handled by pi-FBA, which (although limited in the number of games it handles) is a really smooth emulator. I happen to have sshowdown 1 and 2, I'll give them a shot tomorrow and let you know.
Hey @dman777 - I just tested SamuraiShowdown 2. Here's what I found, FBA played the game, but instead of graphics, everything was a grouping of lines (This happened for every snk game that I tried, so I may be missing a parent file). I then tried it on advmame. The game worked great, but the colors were off. Lastly, I tried it on mame4all, and I had a success! It worked great, looked great, sounded great. (funny thing: I still own a neogeo pocket color and this is the only game that I own)
[UPDATE] @dman777 - I grabbed a better copy of the neogeo.zip (bios file), apparently mine was missing a few files. I copied it over to my pifba roms folder and now all of the samurai showdowns work flawlessly on FBA.
