Cannot configure mame4all games via tab

In mame4all I press the 'tab' button to bring up a menu.
When I click to change some player 1 or player 2 control behavior, it does not react to me pushing the buttons or moving the joystick. I am using this https://github.com/ian57/Raspicade-Retrogame-2Player-BPlus for the GPIO input and it does actually work inside the game, but not on all buttons. -
Have you check in a console that retrogame program is sending all the key. You can test it with evtest too.
After that, you can try to configure key with a keyboard instead of your panel too see if it comes from retrogame ou your panel wiring. -
When I run retrogame I get inputs on all buttons and joysticks, but even the same buttons that work inside games do not respond once I've pressed tab am inside the menu? I haven't heard of evtest before, does it do the same as retrogame?

No it does not replace retrogame. Evtest helps you to test your input hardware. All buttons does not respond or just some of them?
