The piplay updater just grabs the files straight from the repository. So running it multiple times does no good, it just grabs the same files each time. There is a file located at /home/pi/pimame/version that corresponds to our latest version release. Every time that piplay is run, it will check your version number against our version number, if there is a new update, it will tell you at the upper left hand corner of the screen.
