have trouble in with roms in 0.8.0 beta 3
It is an issue with the names having a space in them, or another invalid character. There is a fix described here: http://pimame.org/forum/discussion/965/invalid-rom-names#Item_6 I had the same problem, adding that fix did the trick for me.

Another thing, you will need to reboot the pi after adding any components. If you booted it without the keyboard plugged in, then it won't register until the next reboot, likewise with the network connection.

make sure there are no spaces or special characters in the file name... there is another post on here how to fix the issue, but that should do it.. I will link the other post in a minute so you can fix the underlying issue

I am sure that will be the case :P but I am too lazy to spend more time fussing with it, so I just accepted the fact that for now I will FTP any files I need to put on the pi. Once I finish my arcade cabinet, I am hoping that I will just put all t…

One thing you may want to try, is to create a symbolic link for the mame4all ROMs folder. Check this post here: http://www.pimame.org/forum/discussion/939/missing-files-game-not-supported#Item_12 What happens is, you upload your roms to the roms f…

Still no luck, I've been resorting to just use FTP either via Filezilla, or through the Windows explorer. I would like to get the web upload working, but I'm not really sure what else to try..

There's no linking of ROMs here, but you should be able to find something if you google.

AdvMAME is very slow performance wise. If you are going to be playing MAME, I recommend running them with MAME4All. I haven't had any problems so far, except with some games that weren't compatible back in 2000.

Also, your fix to the Python script worked like a charm! I've got my Pi all set up, now I'm just waiting for parts to throw it in a cabinet :) thanks everyone for all of their hard work getting PiPlay to the masses!

Yes, the sound is a bit wonky for me as well. Definitely with 1942, and possibly with a few others. But it could just be that I don't remember how cheesy NES games sounded back in the 80s :)

Excellent, that looks exactly like what I was looking for! Thanks! On a side note, relating to next beta, is there a way to update from one version to the next, or do you just have to reflash an SD card with the new OS each version?? I'm hop…

Alright, so I found where I can get the MESS source code (and accompanying MAME source code), but I haven't yet found AdvMESS specifically. Also, what version of AdvMESS is used in PiPlay? Or is the file name fix something that I should just …

Missing files/ game not supported
@pgcudahy solution fixed my problem as well. It looks like the menu is listing any games that are in the ~/pimame/roms/mame4all folder, but the mame4all emulator is only working for roms that are in the ~/pimame/emulators/mame4all-pi/roms folder. …

If I refresh after the file is uploaded, the file disappears from the top section, and also doesn't show in the file list at the bottom of the page.

Ok, so it doesn't seem to be a browser issue. It does the same thing with Firefox/IE. I can drag a file onto the window and it appears to upload, or I can click to open the dialog and upload, and the file appears on the screen, but doesn'…

I will give a different browser a shot tonight after work. I typically use Chrome, but I will try Firefox and/or IE and see if the issue persists.

It's version 0.8.0b3. I just got it up and running and that was the first thing I tried to do - add roms. Like I said, I can do it via FTP no problem, but for some reason the web interface does not save them to the folder. Is there another s…

I have been using Filezilla. I saw on another post though that you can just put the IP address into the address bar in Windows Explorer, i.e. ftp://pi:raspberry@192.168.x.x, then it will open an FTP connection inside of Windows Explorer, and allow …

I'm stupid, and need help with, well, everything...
I like the tip of using FTP directly from the Windows Explorer. Nice. I have just been using Filezilla since I can't get the web page uploads to work for some reason, but I think I will just use Windows now.

how to add new emulators?
I ended up finding the solution elsewhere in the forums. If anyone comes across this with the same issue, the emulators became available once I had placed ROMs in the proper location.
