Question: Building a cocktail cabinet with a third set of controls
I don't think that there is anything built in right now (other than editing the boot config file and restarting). I could be wrong, can anyone else comment on this?

If you are getting audio at the startup, but not in the game, then it would probably be a configuration file that needs to be fixed. can you post your config file for mame4all?

try editing your /boot/config.txt file to force hdmi. Here is a reference for setting it up. http://elinux.org/RPiconfig#Which_values_are_valid_for_my_monitor.3F

Feature Requests: What do you want to see in PiPlay?
@Rygar - you can just auto boot into one of the various MAME emulators if you don't want access to any of the other emulators.

I have had success with this emulator only when running it directly from the command line in conjunction with the rom that I want to run. You can try that.

How do I auto-run specific emulator/rom on startup?
Thanks. I am just trying to make an easy reference guide for the questions that we seem to see the most.

starting pimame manually?
I'm sure that it can be done, but you will probably have to edit some source files in xbmc and then compile. I would check with the xbmc forums. http://forum.xbmc.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=166

[BUILD] My Bartop Arcade.
This is what I use for my keyboard. It's a little slow if I have to type a lot (but in those cases I usually just ssh). But otherwise it's very handy. I can even use it as a player 3 controller in a pinch. http://www.amazon.com/Hausbell-H…

Nope. You should be fine. I have mine overclocked with no fans. I would only really consider it if you have a large number of internal lights near your pi, or a tv/monitor that gets really hot. Otherwise you should be fine. I keep mine on 24/7.

it's not two keyboards. it's one keyboard with two players on it using a different set of keys for each. can you post a link to the controllers that you are using?

can you post a copy of your advmame.rc? I had this problem when there was a duplicate entry in the file.

GPIO or USB?
it varies, but generally speaking, I-PAC will be faster (but a bit more costly). Personally, I liked using gpio simply because it's very easy to troubleshoot.

This should get you going with the script for controlling the lcd. This guy used a 16x2, but you should be able to adapt it pretty easily. http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2012/07/16x2-lcd-module-control-using-python/
