Storage
One of my next goals is to automatically link to USB drives for ROMs. You can edit /home/pi/.advance/advmame.rc and set the rom path there. GNGeo is set to ~/.gngeo/gngeorc MAME4all and PiSNES have their config files under ~/emulators/

AdvMAME sound issue
Yes. It's a known issue. Using HDMI seems to help a bit. I would suggest using MAME4All which is included in the latest version of PiMAME.

Building my first Arcade Machine
Using an I-Pac has been the standard way to go for interfacing controls to your computer. http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html You can also find various buttons and interface boards on eBay as well. Look for arcade controls

Some Questions about Key Presets and functions
When you press Tab, and go into the menu, under some of the machine options, you may find enable cocktail mode. I know Galaga and Ms. PacMan have cocktail mode enabled as a jumper, so you set the machines virtual jumpers in the tab menu. Hope that…

I don't think Vanilla Forums allows attachments. I'll have to look at some plugins. If you send me the file, I can host it here and make it a download for you.

PiMAME 0.7 Released - Includes AdvanceMAME, MAME4All, and SNES9x
if you are running the latest PiMAME version, there should be a folder in the roms/ directory called mame4all. That folder is where you should put the roms. Let me know if you have any issues!

I just tested a fresh image of the PiMAME 0.7 beta1, and I was able to upload files through the rom uploader to the mame4all directory. Are you using the premade image or the installer?

Installer / Updater Script available
it checks if there are differences between the previous stock config and the one currently saved. if there are differences, it saves the updated script with a .default extension. If the files are not different, then it updates them.
