How to install with correct directory owner of Pi and not root?
  • The big problem that I have always had the PIMAME is that when the install is done everything is owned by root. This is a problem when you go to upload any roms and change any files as part of the setup. I always have to change the advance.rc owner or no key mappings are saved. I also cannot upload any roms to the required folders logging in as Pi. I have run into so many problem changing ownership of folders.

Is there a correct install so the correct owner pi is associated with all files and folders?
  • when you run the install script, are you doing sudo ./install.sh, or just ./install.sh?

You should only have to do ./install.sh for it to work.
  • Shea,

the quickstart guide, (http://pimame.org/quickstart.html) says that you should type "sudo ./update.sh" for an update. Should that be just ./update.sh as well?

I know I ran into trouble doing a sudo ./install.sh, had to go back to scratch.

  • Good catch! I'm editing that now. You should only have todo ./update.sh.

The only time you use sudo is when you are uninstall PiMAME
