Buzzing background noise in dkong3

I have a strange buzzing in the background audio when playing donkey kong 3. The game plays great. The sound for the game plays fine. Just a constant buzzing noise using HDMI or analog audio. I also have a background ticking noise in llander (lunar lander). Same thing happens. Game and sound for the game play fine. All other mame games run great. All games are mame v0.37b5. Any ideas?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I am having the same issue with donkey kong 3.
There is no sound problem using the same ROM with a Win based MAME.
