BIOS and Controller Setup in Quick Start Guide?

I'm about to install PiMAME 0.7.10 but I don't see any information on configuring controllers, or installing BIOS for NeoGeo for example. Where can I get such information related to PiMAME and wouldn't it make sense to include such information in the Quick Start Guide?

I'm using the Retrolink USB SEGA Saturn Classic Controller: http://www.amazon.com/Retrolink-Saturn-Classic-Controller-Black-Pc/dp/B002BFVAV0/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1385574210&sr=1-2&keywords=RetroLink+sega , and they didn't seem to work out of the box when I tried PiMAME 0.7.9.

BIOS related items and such aren't allowed to be talked about because those items, like rom files, can get the community in trouble.

The controller setup is a valid point, and its something I'm trying to make easier in the next version.
