I am not getting NES to work. When I select it from the menu, the screen flashes and returns to the menu. Selecting it enough times, I am able to make out the error "emulater advmess not found, ignoring it."

Same as thex, updated pimame through the terminal and not through .img

Does the update always write over the cfg files? I had customized the snes9x.cfg - mapping to my TankStick. When I updated to 7.8 - it overwrote my changes.

oh man. sorry about that. It checks some of the other configs, but yes, it overwrites the snes config. I'll look into that as well.

The NES issue with the update script should be fixed. Rerun update.sh and you will have NES support.

I now get to advmenu however encounter another error when I select a game,
"No monitor clocks specification 'device_video_p/h/vclock.'"
