Xin Mo Dual Arcade Help

I am a NOOB---Just installed my raspberry pi B+ with a Xin Mo Dual arcade. When I go into retropie, it recognizes both joystick controls as Gamepad 1. I have read about having to patch/install Kernels---but I have no idea how to do that. Can anyone help?
