Controller not being recognized

I'm trying to run PiPlay on a Raspberry Pi2 and i am having problems with the controllers not being recognized I have been trying to use a logitech Dual Action controller or a PS3 controller with the usb cable and can't get either to work. If i need a different type of controller what are supported ?
