PiPlay console design for 3dPrinter, any suggestions?
  • I want to design a box to put your Raspberry Pi 2 in. I saw some nice designs for the Uzebox (like this one : http://uzebox.org/news/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/uzebox.jpg ) and i thought it would be nice to have one for PiPlay. Ofcourse there are things like the mini NES but those do not have any real buttons and funtion more like a standard RPI casing. I want to design something that uses real buttons for things like "Power" and "Reset" and maybe more if you have suggestions...?

I know a lot of people are implementing PiPlay purely as the software for the PCB in a cabinet. But i am sure there are planty that want to use it as gameconsole since it a lot easier and smaller? I want to post the designs as open source on Thingiverse so anyone with a 3DPrinter can print them and change them to their likings.

Now i am not saying that i am a great designer here, i am going to try hard so please forgive me for any mistakes :)
  • I am attempting something similar. I have 3d printed two handheld arcade controllers and I need to make a case for the Pi to fit in. It just needs to sit under the TV. If I come up with a cool design, I'll share it.
  • It would be cool to see your design. I have already made one for a RPI B, it's pretty easy to make something but a little harder to make something cool that is easy to print.

I just wonder about a few things like:

    1) Should the case be as small as possible? for me a little bigger looks nicer as a console?

    2) Should be the GPIO pins be accessable from outside, or maybe extended to the side?

    3) Should there be room for extra hardware?

    4)....

Howdy, Stranger!
