Can i use a usb joystick?

can i plug this

into the raspberry pi and then using the other usb port plug this

and connect the buttons to it; would i need to then code anything, like what each button does?

yeah, but you are going to have to do a lot of configuring. Why not just buy a joystick that you can connect to that board?

I can't find one? Can you find me a joystick which is compatible with the zero delay encoder? I have a joystick already but it's only got one wire output, but the zero delay takes 2 if you get what I mean.

see what I I mean about the wires whereas the zero delay takes 2 connections per move.
