I don't want to upset people that have spent at lot of hard work on the nice cool menus, but is it possible to also have an old skool option on the menu, aka like on 0.7?
The reason I ask is that with 0.7 you had a very functional menu, it was quick and I could go from one emu to another emu very quickly. In the new looking menu there is quite a delay to swap around between emulators. The text type menu is significantly faster when swapping emualtors than the graphical menu.
The rpi is not that powerful, and the general UNIX type person probably prefers quicker operating with minimal flashy graphics. I know if you were showing someone the setup it looks much better with the cool graphics on the menu, but in a day to day use I would prefer the speed.
I am not a programmer by any means, but I have been modifying the 0.7 menus to add extra emulators, although I cannot get for example Fuse (Sinclair Spectrum emulator) running from the text menu.
Again I don't want to upset people, I am not saying the menu's are rubbish.
On the newest version that we are creating, it includes a scraper utility that also caches all of the rom titles for much faster loading. In addition to that, you can also create themes, so If you'd like, you can create a minimalist theme that only renders text and no images, for even more saved time.
