Map XBOX controller buttons to Keyboard?

Is there a way to map the xbox controller buttons to keyboard presses, instead of their usual button?

I ask because:
1) I want a setup with no keyboard, and I haven't found a way to exit games to return to the PiPlay menu without the ESC key on a keyboard.

2) The Gameboy emulator has no menu (that I can find) to remap the keys. So I have to use the keyboard to play all my old Gameboy games.

So, can it be done?

you can probably find a third party script that will allow you to do this. Or you can buy a momentary button and wire it up to your gpio pins. I got 100 of them for $1.49

The momentary button would solve the ESC issue, but still wouldn't allow me to remap the keys for emulators that don't allow remapping.
