This is solved now - thanks for your help. The GPIO.BOARD did need to be GPIO.BCM - works perfect...

Stop Escape to Command Line
Thanks mate. Is there still an escape option to get to the command line? I'm booting straight into MAME4ALL and some configs may still be required.

2. Try holding down keyboard button 1 then hit left cursor. Long shot as this is the ipac emulator mapping but MAME4ALL might use that key combo to Enter.

Auto boot NES ROM or Advmenu navigation w/ joystick
Pretty sure to launch straight into any game you need to edit the .profile file: sudo nano ~/.profile NOT the menu.py file...
