Runlevel issues
I have had people reporting bad image errors using windows unzip and 7z. That may be the source of your problems. Try using winRar.

I'm not sure. I've never run into this type error. When I have some time, I'll look into it a bit more for you, but you may want to just format your card and re-write the image onto it. It should just boot straight into piplay

No. I don't think that you can write the .IMG.zip to the SD card. It needs to be extracted first. You should use winrar to extract, sdformatter to format, and disk imager to write the file

you are using sdformatter to format the card and Win32DiskImager to write the file to your sd card, right? Because windows format and drag 'n dropping the file won't work correctly.

Can't play any ROMs; only goes to Raspbian Desktop
yeah, I was worried about that (the highlighting). For the console, it has a countdown (3 second delay) before it auto starts the scraper. I really recommend running the scraper (even if you bypass downloading images). It doesn't take that long…

There is most likely something wrong with your files. If you say no, it should take you to the rom list. If you say "Yes", it should kick you to terminal with a series of input prompts asking things like "Do you want to download missi…

Feature Requests: What do you want to see in PiPlay?
That's just a ps3 controller script (they are all over the place). You can just add the script to your ./.profile and it will auto run on startup

Suggestions for "control" keys on converting a Porta-Pi from RetroPie to PiPlay
@Chad - In the version that is coming out, I have created a new file under /home/pi/pimame/pimame-menu/controller.yaml. This will allow you to edit both the joystick and keyboard controls for the piplay interface. The default for keyboard is: navig…

With this next release that we are about to put out, you will see a big performance jump. Both in piplay menu and in most emulators. We have been optimizing like crazy!

most likely, from what I have seen from the hummingboard. But you may have to self install a lot of things. I will tell you definitively if I ever get my hands on one. :D

That was one of the thresholds for the kickstarter campaign that wasn't hit. I think that sometime in the future, Shea does plan to build a module for raspbmc though.

probably not the next release, as we are sort of past the point of no return in terms of adding features for the next one. But perhaps some future release can get it. My question is why are you getting kicked to the console on rom failure. it should…

well, pressing "up arrow" (or the equivalent) lets you scroll through previous inputted commands, not sure if that would work on a gamepad. Otherwise, you could make a script that checks for button presses and then outputs 'exit'…

I believe that this issue will be resolved in the next release. I know Shea has gotten a PiCade to test on, so I imagine he has taken care of this.

The controller setup for the update isn't up and running yet (the last official version of piplay is .8 beta 3, and the controller config doesn't even exist on that image). But good news, we should see a new version with the controller con…

ERROR: required files are missing, the game cannot be run.
somewhere on here I posted how to use clrmamepro, it's a romset checker. I would recommend running it against any roms that you have to check them. In some cases it can even convert files for you (so I hear, but I've never tried that parti…

You need to find specific romsets for the emulators. different romsets are basically different versions of the game. You may get lucky with some games, but the file contents change from version to version, that's why you are getting the error. …

in line 17 you have a problem with your code, the shouldn't be there and everything after should be on the next line. Then change that to self.rom_list.insert(0, back_item)
