Speed and Mame4All
test on the command line first. type /home/pi/mame4all_pi/mame and see what happens in the console.

Installer / Updater Script available
you can run it on a clean Raspian, or a premade PiMAME image. I would recommend running update.sh on a premade PiMAME install though. EDIT: You should probably run install anyway the first time through, just because it will bring you up-to-date.

[DEFERRED] Silent start?
Silent booting / custom image booting is on the agenda. I've had it working but I'm not 100% happy with the results at the moment. It is possible though.

Is it possible to use a xbox 360 controller (usb wired) in the PiMAME Menu
I don't recommend testing with Gridlee. With the tankstick it uses the trackball instead. Find a different game and see if it works then.

tekken 3 on pcsx rearmed works ok, but display is weird
you probably need the official bios rather than the HLE one. I can't tell you where to find that though.

metal slug on advmame slow?
Use GNGeo (which is in the latest version of PiMAME). GNGeo is about 99% speed and has good audio support.

A few questions
The PiMAME menu is "hard coded" to use the 'c' key or the enter key. the configs for advmame and advmenu are stored in /home/pi/.advance If you post what you are changing we might be able to help out more.

Speed and Mame4All
Hey Lang, Great to see you on here :) I'm probably going to add both AdvMAME and MAME4ALL into the next release. There is no reason they can't both be looking at the same ROMs directory. I honestly just haven't had time.

Advmenu Joystick Mappings
You should be able to edit the advmenu.rc file to support custom mppings. That's what I did for the TankStick. Do the NES USB Controllers output anything on the command line when you press a button?

[SOLVED] NeoGeo lockup on 0.6b4
The neogeo.zip needs to be in the roms directory in /home/pi/ . Are you running the display via HDMI or composite? Did you change any of the display settings in the gngeo options menu?

[SOLVED] Advance Menu Slowness
@the_Adam is correct. The sound module seems to be getting better, but still has some issues in AdvanceMAME and MENU. Setting it to none stops it from trying to use ALSA and will def free up some CPU usage. I will put that configuration in the ne…

How to activate NEOGEO?
I will have a version of GNGeo in the next release of PiMAME, which seems to run a lot better than MAME does on NeoGeo games. The NeoGeo is my favorite arcade system btw. I used to have 3 of them at one point, and I still have a bunch of games and…

Config piMame?
on the command line, if you type: ls ~/.advance there should be a bunch of files. If you don't have any files there, then something might be wrong with your install. Once I know if you have any files there, I can assist more. Thanks!

PiMAME 0.6 Beta 3 Available
The difference is that beta3 uses the latest Raspberry Pi firmware (rpi-update). There were booting issues with beta2 and newer Raspberry Pi boards, and it was recommended to do a firmware update. It looks like this has fixed the issue.
